Besan ka Halwa


The most loved traditional Indian dessert, easy to cook recipe, usually made during festive season, can also be an dessert made at home.






Ingredients :-
Besan (Gram Flour) -----1/2 Cup 
Ghee -------------------- 1/2 Cup
Sugar ------------------- 1/3 Cup 
Water ------------------- 1 1/2 Cups
Sooji (Semolina) ------- 1 1/2 Tbsp 
Almonds ---------------- 5 to 6  
Green cardamom ------- 3 to 4  


Let's start


Step 1. Take a  pan and heat it on medium flame. Add 1 table spoon of ghee and heat it for a minute. When ghee melts completely, add Sooji (semolina) and roast it well, stir it continuously until it gives out a nice aroma and turns light golden in colour.
                                 

Step 2. Meanwhile, take another pan heat it on medium flame. Pour water and let it boil. When it comes to a boil, add sugar and cardamom powder. Stir it well.

Step 3. Take the pan in which Semolina was roasted. Take out roasted semolina and heat the pan on medium flame again. Add 1/2 cup of ghee and heat it for a minute. When ghee melts completely, add Besan (gram flour) and roast it.

Step 4. Stir it continuously until besan turns light golden in colour and gives nice aroma.

Step 5. When besan turns light golden in colour add roasted suji and mix it well.

Step 6. Add sugar, Cardamom, water mixture, prepared at step 2, carefully add in the roasted Besan, Stir well while adding the water to ensure there are no lumps formed.


Step 7. Use the spatula to break the formed lumps, stir until water mixture combines well with Besan. Stir till it becomes consistent.

Step 8. Cook the mixture till it thickens. When it starts to leave the sides of the pan,turn off the flame. Garnish with roasted almond flakes.

Serve hot!
            
Note* 
  • Sooji is optional. you can skip that part. I add Sooji in Besan-halwa to give it a nice texture.
